  1. Interesting that you switched from the Sawyer to the BeFree (albeit as part of your experiment to check out gear alternatives on the last 500 miles of the PCT). I used the BeFree this summer in Scotland, where I hiked for 26 days. I liked the easy use of the BeFree but found that the filter started clogging rather early. Katadyn suggests cleaning the filter by rinsing it in running water which didn’t really work for me. Are you planning on doing a review vid on the BeFree?

    Keep breathing that fresh air!

  2. Hey Darwin,
I am from Germany and like your Videos very much. I would you to ask what temperature you recommend for the EE Quilt for the PCT or AT? Thanks and greetings Steffen

    • Hey Glad You dig my media Steffen! This is always a hard question…it depends on your comfort level, what pad your using, time of your hike etc. If you want, shoot me an email and maybe we can discuss further.

  3. Hi – I love this list! Good guidance. Question – do the wind pants dub as rain pants? I’m just going to be hiking for a short 10-day period in the summer and not sure I need wind pants unless they are rain pants as well. Or I should just look at rain pants. Thoughts? Thank you!

    • Hey Elena! I actually do not wear rain pants and wind pants are definatly not the same. I personally make use of wind pants and typcially just wear a rain jacket for my rain gear. Wind Pants came in really handy out on the PCT!

  4. Did you have a stove? I see on your pretrip you had a BRS ultralight but it is not listed on the post list. What did you cook with?

  5. Did you have a portable bear locker? I don’t see it listed on your gear list.
I believe its a requirement to have one, while hiking thru INYO National Forest wilderness areas.

    • Yep, I carried a Bear Canister where required, this is the gear I finished with. Check the other PCT gear list for everything I started with and what I carried thru the Sierras.

      Hike On,
      Darwin
